Program Overview

Lumbini Buddhist University was founded in 2004 following the 1st World Buddhist Summit in Lumbini, the birthplace of Shakyamuni Buddha. Since 2011, the university has offered Ph.D. programs in two main areas: core Buddhist studies and applied Buddhism.

Our Ph.D. program is designed to inspire and prepare scholars through research to generate contextual knowledge and innovations that promote peace, harmony, and prosperity in the contemporary world.
